Just to add a little more personal flair to it, here's some Korean music from the 90's. It sort've shows how far the Korean music industry has come in the past 20 years...

서태지와아이들 - 난알아요 (Seo Taiji and Boys - I Know)

My favorite group growing up. This was their breakout hit and they were the first to pioneer rap, hip hop, and rock in Korea. They are pretty much the godfathers of modern day Korean music. Taiji is still performing solo while the other members went onto manage successful music labels (such as YG).
